Board of Directors Nominations Being Accepted

The Friends of Queen Anne’s County Library is currently accepting nominations for its Board of Directors.

The Friends of the Library raises funds that allow Queen Anne’s County Library to pilot new programs, grow popular programs, and invest in needed new technologies and resources.  In 2021 alone, the Friends provided the library with over $50,000 for programming and equipment at both the Centreville and Kent Island branches of the library, including funding the popular Summer Reading Program, a donation to the Capital Campaign for the Kent Island branch expansion, and a donation toward a Mobile Library.

The Friends Board of Directors develops and implements strategies for supporting the library, including leading fund-raising initiatives and educating the community about library resources, while also encouraging community literacy in general.  The Board meets monthly to review the organization’s plans and progress and to receive updates on the Library’s ongoing work and initiatives.

Qualified candidates for the Board of Directors will have a love for the work of Queen Anne’s County Library, an interest in ensuring the library’s role in our community, and a commitment to working with others to support the library.  Being a Director of the Friends is a volunteer position, and generally involves about 10 hours of work per month.  All Directors are required to be members of the Friends of the Library, but a candidate for the position can join the group at any time before his/her term begins.

Interested candidates for the Board of Directors should CLICK HERE for a short application to be submitted by January 31, 2022, for best consideration. Self-nominations are encouraged.  All questions can be directed to FriendsOfQACLibrary@gmail.com.
