The Friends of Queen Anne’s County Library held its second annual meeting on Monday, January 27, 2015. Carol Franks-Randall, Sue Haddox, and Kathie Smarick were elected as Board members. Officers elected include: President, Mary Jackson; Vice President, Chloe Norton; Secretary, Penny Lins; and Treasurer, Connie Zillig.

David Clark, chef at 208 Talbot in St. Michael’s, delighted the audience of nearly 40 with a description of how he became interested in cooking, his culinary training, and his background at several local restaurants, including Julia’s, Bridges, and 208 Talbot. He gave a cooking demonstration and the audience were treated to tastings of vegetable crab soup and potato leek soup. David’s wife, Valerie, poured two wines from Draper’s that complemented each soup. Focaccia bread rounded out the meu.

In 2015, the Friends will continue its lobby book sales and have scheduled a book sale for Saturday, August 29, 2015. The Friends has given money to the library to support the Summer Reading Program and will host a children’s reading program in spring. Watch for announcements of other events sponsored by the Friends.

The Friends encourages families and organizations to join the 501(c)(3) organization.
